Back Gouging


GBC G400 Grinder for back gouging
The unit is light, powerful, compact and a versatile grinder. Suitable for rapidly carrying out the main process of taping and grinding of ferrules and typical manufactured items for boilers, such as:

  • back goughing for welding root removal
  • polishing of dish ends, vessels, cones, poles, etc.
  • tack-weld edge prep by grinding
  • weld seam over-thickness removal
GBC G400 shown mounted on trolley, during typical back gouging operation, circumferential on OD of pressure vessel. Trolley allows easy handling and moving of the grinding head.


GBC G400 mounted on column welding boom arm. Unit equipped with needle bearing kit for 360° rotation. This layout allows back gouging circumferential, longitudianl, outside and inside on big diameter pressure vessels.

FEATURES Use of the GBC G400 Grinder provides a solid evolution in all grinding operations on boilers and pressure vessels with the following advantages compared to manual execution by a single operator with an angle grinder:

G400 Grinder head feeding system is pneumatic which retracts the feeding piston when meeting ovality on the piece which prevents an overage of removed material. Operator then restores the correct feeding rate for the grinding disc on the vessel.


 
Grinding head can turn 90° for dedicated set up when performing longitudianl back gouging (mounted on column welding boom arm only).
